NEWARK, NJ – JANUARY 11 2010 – FP YOUTHOUTCRY Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce that its first RHYMES 4 REASONS class will graduate on January 28, 2010 at 7pm. The graduation ceremony will be held at The Coffee Cave at 45 Halsey St. There will be a surprise guest host, performances by special surprise guests and performances by the graduates showcasing their work during the program. A small soiree will be held immediately afterward.
During the past three months the young men and women have learned the technical aspects of arranging and recording music at the RHYMES 4 REASONS studio located at The Club House on Spruce St. from audio engineer Chris DeSilva. The students learned the business side of the music industry from instructor Charles “Chuck” Love. The students also received guest lectures from other industry professionals.
“Music saved my life and I pray that it saves some of our lost youth here in Newark. As a youth and as an artist Music was my alternative. As an adult Music is my sanctuary. It is my wish that these graduates find sanctuary not only in Music itself but in the knowledge they now possess to create their own music, their own sanctuary.” said Al-Tariq Best, CEO and Founder of FP YOUTHOUTCRY Foundation, Inc.

NEWARK, NJ – DECEMBER 7 2009 – FP YOUTHOUTCRY FOUNDATION, Inc. in conjunction with the Humane Society, Prodigal Sons & Daughters, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark hosted Philadelphia Eagles football player Michael Vick in Newark on December 1, 2009.
Michael Vick greeted the auditorium filled with school children and families of all ages who waited anxiously to hear the football star talk about his experiences with violence and animal cruelty. He spoke to the children and parents about the lessons he learned while serving his sentence for dog fighting. He encouraged the children to make better choices than he did stressing that they are able to make wise decisions on their own.
―The Michael Vick event was great. It was wonderful that he came to Newark to speak to the kids, but dog fighting is not our biggest issue. We have people violence issues in Newark. I’m only disappointed that he didn’t speak on that.‖ said Realism host of Real Talk on NJ Elite Radio 99.5 who was in the audience.
Although many were dismayed by the rush of reporters and kids wanting autographs which occurred immediately after Michael Vick spoke, FP YOUTHOUTCRY FOUNDATION, Inc. treated the attendees to a MTOL (My Thoughts Out Loud) Traveling Youth Summit hosted by ―Free‖ (formerly of POWER 105). The auditorium filled to capacity as the children and families voluntarily participated in the summit. Parents and children were excited to see Free hosting the MTOL and great performances by dance groups, The Ill-Matic Force and The Emperorz.
―I am so glad that FP YOUTHOUTCRY was involved in securing Michael Vick’s presence in Newark, NJ. My mission in life is to lead by example and teach what was taught to me. I feel that FP was once again successful at entertaining, educating and empowering youth and families. Check out the pictures, the proof is in the footage!‖ said Al-Tariq Best, Founder of FP YOUTHOUTCRY FOUNDATION, Inc.
Coverage of the event was seen on NBC-TV NYC, ABC-TV NYC, FOX-5 NEWS NYC and their national affiliates. Print, video and on-line coverage can be found at The Star-Ledger, NJ.com, Local News Service, All Eyes On Who.com, and FP YOUTOUTCRY FOUNDATION, Inc Facebook Fan Page.
NEWARK, NJ—NOVEMBER 26, 2009—FP YOUTHOUTCRY FOUNDATION, Inc. celebrated Thanksgiving Day with volunteers from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark, The Leaguers, Inc., and many other individuals from across the city of Newark who came out to help serve dinner to those who did not have a place at a Thanksgiving table.
Caravans of people arrived around 10am bringing food and refreshments to Military Park. Chairs and tables were provided by Newark Now and the Newark Housing Authority.
“It was an amazing experience. I was deeply touched by all the people who pulled up with cars full of food. It was a beautiful thing. People want us to do it again.” said FP’s CEO and Founder, Al-Tariq Best.
Tables and chairs were lined up so that all participants and volunteers could eat family style. Those eating were served dinner plates by volunteers while everyone joked and laughed.
“FP YOUTHOUTCRY’s 1st Annual Breaking Bread Ceremony was by far the most thankful Thanksgiving I’ve ever had. I was moved by the eagerness of the volunteers and the gratefulness of the recipients.” said an excited Tiffany Aliche, FP’s Executive Vice President.
At the end of the ceremony many of those served walked away with plastic bags full of food. Some FP staff members gave more than just food away. Audrey Daniels, Executive Assistant to the CEO, gave her coat away to a homeless man who didn't have one.
Jermaine Foster, FP’s Senior Vice President, gave away his belt to another man keeping his pants up with a plastic rope. “They say God loves a cheerful giver. Well he must really love FP YOUTHOUTCRY and their volunteers. We didn’t just serve food, we gave love with a smile.”
